The Liveaboards
Nai'a . . . . Island Dancer

NAI'A

Nai'a is 120 feet of air-conditioned luxury, custom-built for Fiji waters.  A capable expeditionary sailing vessel, Nai'a can comfortably reach the Pacific's most remote and pristine sites.

Family-owned and operated,
Nai'a boasts 14 dedicated crew who understand discerning divers and share their passion for adventure, exploration and great company!  This family feeling brings divers back to her again & again & again.

Completely renovated in 2010, she offers 8 en-suite staterooms accommodating a maximum of 18 guests. You'll love her huge dive deck, sun deck & separate camera room.  Her spacious salon is made of Fijian hardwoods and her bow has a special "pulpit" for spotting whales & dolphins when you're not in the water.  She boasts fine dining with international cuisine.

Involved in marine research, education and conservation projects, she's a wonderful vessel for the serious diver.

Nai'a will escort you on a discovery voyage where you'll spot a variety of marine life, from manta rays to mantis shrimp, dolphins to dartfish, voracious sharks to vibrant soft corals with swirling fish schools with Nigali's sharks and you'll ride the currents alongside Namena's lavish walls!

Nai'a dives the central waters of Fiji.

DANCER FLEET'S ISLAND DANCER

The Island Dancer II is typical Dancer Fleet quality and appeals to those discriminating divers who prefer an intimate experience.  With only five cabins and a maximum of 10 guests, she provides the comfort and luxury perfectly suited to this island paradise.

At 101 feet, she's spacious and luxurious.  Of course, she's fully air-conditioned and all cabins are en-suite.

The sumptuous Owner's Suite, with its queen-size bed,
offers a picture window view and plenty of storage. The Deluxe Staterooms feature Double Bed (lower) and Twin Bed (upper) bunks and are equally spacious.

The beautifully appointed salon has ample room for divers to view their photos and videos or to enjoy a movie on the entertainment system.

The sundeck features covered and uncovered lounging and is a perfect place to relax with a book during surface intervals. The large dive deck has a dive platform, a freshwater shower and a camera table.   Nitrox is available.

Our Favorite Resorts

BEQA LAGOON RESORT

Beqa Lagoon Resort is located on Beqa Island, across the Beqa Lagoon from Viti Levu.  This very private tropical island has no roads or towns, just a few small villages.

The resort offers: twelve beachfront bungalows each with its own plunge pool; six garden bungalows, three very private bungalows in the outer gardens and four family bungalows with two bedrooms each.

All bungalows are en-suite with verandas or patios. The resort grounds are a haven of lush gardens with blooming flowers, and the beach is a beachcomber’s dream.

Beqa Lagoon offers excellent coral diving on the large barrier reef - plus for the non-diver and diver alike, you'll find snorkeling, swimming or kayaking in the warm waters of the blue lagoon, waterfall hikes, and the joy of relaxing  in a hammock, lounging by the infinity pool,  or indulging in a soothing aromatherapy massage in the privacy of your own bungalow.

For more excitement, join the weekly shark dive trip with Beqa Adventure Divers, where you can see up to eight species of sharks.

For surfers, the world-class Frigate Pass offers year-around thrilling waves.

COUSTEAU FIJI ISLANDS RESORT

The Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort is located on the island of Vanua Levu, on 17 acres of a coconut plantation overlooking the peaceful waters of Savusavu Bay.

The resort is known for a multitude of specialties and does them all equally well.  Romance, honeymoons and weddings, scuba diving, and family vacations are all offered in an eco-friendly environment.

Accommodation is provided in traditional style bures b
uilt of local timbers & thatch. Each bure features rattan furnishings, king-size bed with custom-made mattress, small sitting area with desk, wooden louvered windows, overhead fan, and private deck with garden or ocean views. To ensure a serene environment, the bures have no telephones or televisions.

The resort has access to dive sites in Savusavu Bay and into the Koro Sea: among them, Shark Alley,
Hole in the Wall and Big Blue. With sites just 10 minutes away and others further afield, such as the world-class Namena reefs, the resort offers a variety of dives for novices and experts alike.  The waters of the Koro Sea are known for their exceptional diversity, including a large number of identified dive sites and newer areas we're still exploring.

The
Cousteau team also believes that a great diving experience is the adventure of the unknown. Thus, guests are welcome to join exploration trips & help discover 7 name new sites.

GARDEN ISLAND RESORT

On the island of Taveuni (known as "The Garden Island") Garden Island Resort is well known for its excellent dive staff & great diving location just 15 minutes from the White Wall & 25 other exciting dive sites.

It's a boutique resort offering personalized service & comfort. All 30 rooms have water views & beautiful sunsets.

The lush tropical garden offers bananas, papayas, pineapples, passion fruit, coconuts, & a variety of citrus fruits seasonally ready for our guests.  The ocean front spa pampers & relaxes.

The dining room is located on the ocean front side of the resort where soft breezes, beautiful views, and the sound of ocean waves add to the enjoyment of gourmet meals prepared by the
Garden Island Resort chefs.

Amenities here include a dive shop, 9 hole golf course, 2 pools, clay & grass tennis courts, lawn bowling, restaurant, bar, outdoor pizza oven, snorkeling, kayaking, horseback riding, wireless internet & business center.

As the resort is located on the famous Somosomo Strait, with its magnificent White Wall & Rainbow Reef, this is where your diving will be.
Garden Island Resort is the first Gold Palm Resort to be awarded by PADI Australia in the region. This award recognises PADI International Resort Association members that present a professional image, excellence in customer satisfaction, dive experiences, education, safety and environmental awareness.

Garden Island Resort is one of the lower priced options in Fiji but its rates do not reflect on its quality.  Our stays here have been bathed in beauty & the warmth of personal service and we long to return.

MOODY'S NAMENA

Moody’s Namena Resort is located on a private island which rises dramatically from the Koro Sea.  You'll relish hiking in lush tropical forests, lazing on the sparkling white sand beaches and immersing yourself in total seclusion from the world.

In this lovely eco-resort, with only six cottages spaced well for privacy, you'll feel alone in Paradise. The cottages are built from native woods, and each is situated on a ridge to offer spectacular views over the ocean & to provide cooling breezes.  All are equipped with king-size beds, private bathrooms & fans.

During your stay you can take advantage of scuba diving, snorkeling, nature hikes, bird watching, fishing, kayaking and more.

The Namena Barrier Reef is one of the South Pacific's most diversified reef systems. This area has been a Marine Reserve since 2004 so the diversity of corals, both hard and soft, along with prolific marine life have blossomed since the 'no fishing' ban.

Divers are delighted with the abundance of coral and critters on the reef. Namena Reef is known as one of the best dive areas throughout the Fijian Archipelago with
sheer drop-offs, graduating walls, bommies (sea mounts), current & no current.  The liveaboards & other resorts come in search of its beauties.  Even snorkelers can see giant clams, turtles and rays in colorful coral gardens just off the beach.

NAKIA

Nakia Resort on Taveuni Island is a great new choice for divers wanting to experience the extraordinary Rainbow Reef.

Another of Fiji's eco resorts, this one has only four cottages for a maximum of ten guests. There are three cottages with a queen-size bed & a larger cottage with a king-size bed, one double bed & a sofa for a maximum of four guests. Each cottage has a private bathroom, a ceiling fan, a minibar & a veranda with a hammock overlooking the Somosomo Strait & its fantastic sunsets.

Nakia is proud of its Cliffhouse Restaurant which offers tasty dishes based on local produce from Nakia’s own gardens, daily resort-baked bread, and locally sourced beef, chicken & seafood. The resort takes its green ideology seriously.

The family owned & operated Nakia has its own dive shop & a 34-foot custom dive catamaran. Somosomo Strait & Rainbow Reef support more than 390 species of coral, 1,500 species of fish, and turtles, eels, sharks – it is a color & marine life explosion!  Diving here includes some serious drift diving but beginners can also be accommodated.

Snorkeling excursions to nearby sites can be arranged &
Nakia has a pool, laundry service, and complimentary kayaks & mountain bikes for exploring the island. Golfing, horseback riding, guided hiking, Bouma waterfall trips, and relaxing massages are all available in this peaceful paradise resort.

NAMALE

On the edge of the Koro Sea, lush & colorful landscapes dazzle, soft sand beaches invite, luxurious accommodation awaits & unparalleled hospitality reigns. This is Namale Resort, 525 acres of paradise, together with 10,000 square feet of world-class spa & sanctuary.

Tucked amongst lava pinnacles & lush jungle foliage, at
Namale Resort, your bure - the Fijian word for home - is the apex of luxury & charm.  Each bure has a bedroom & sitting area, a spacious bathroom with sliding glass doors that open to a private garden.  Furnishings & decor, beds & linens, are all of the very highest quality.

A one hour flight from Nadi and 11 km from Savusavu,
Namale Resort and Spa offers a pristine sanctuary of peaceful seclusion, romance & luxury. There are only 19 bures and private villas set amongst coconut palms, private beaches & jungles with cascading waterfalls.

All meals, beverages, transfers from Savu Savu airport, daily laundry service & many activities are including in the nightly rate.

Namale Resort and Spa offers world class diving, tennis, snorkelling, horseback riding, basketball, volleyball, kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, water skiing & a professional gym.

End your day with a gourmet meal served by candlelight on a private deck overlooking miles of spectacular coastline.  It's a dream come true.

For your diving, the Namale diving team will take you to a string of dive sites stretching for 20 km along the Savusavu coast of the Koro Sea, each located within five to 25 minutes of the resort.  Their boats also have access to renowned diving sites such as Namena Marine Reserve & the Somosomo Strait.

The diving is very nice, though much of it admittedly is not really World-Class.  We recommend
Namale because of the total package.  We cannot possibly say enough about the service, the surroundings, the amenities, the activities available & the people.  This is unquestionably on of the finest luxury resorts in the world and one of our personal favorite escapes.  As special as it gets!
