Hello.
I'm Dominick Macan . . . . . . and Dive Advice Travel is my "brainchild" and my passion.
It all started when, at the age of 16, I took a winter-time British Sub Aqua Club diving course.
In spite of the incredibly frigid English Atlantic waters, I found myself hooked on diving!
Then, in the early 80’s, four years on a legendary dive boat in the Red Sea gave me the
opportunity to explore where few had gone before & the adventures cemented my addiction.
Being in the Red Sea at that time was nothing less than a dream. We were one of only 2 boats
diving there at the time.
If you've been there in the past 10 years, I know that's hard to imagine!
Think of the wreck of the Lara, now just twisted, rotting iron timbers disintegrating into the
sea. We were there just after she'd hit the reef. We boarded her. We started her engines.
We explored her deepest reaches. And we helped the BBC to film a segment about the
Red Sea, part of which was filmed on the wreck of the Lara.
There were countless adventures in those years, all of which lured me deeper & deeper into
diving as my life's work. Since that time, through my involvement in diving & adventure
travel, I’ve had the good fortune to dive most of the planet's richest waters and to explore
many of her most exotic lands.
For the past 20 years, I've been able to simultaneously follow my passion & assist my clients
in designing dream voyages to exotic destinations. Then, in 2003, after moving from San
Francisco to the south of France, I founded Dive Advice Travel.
I wanted to offer not only the traditional dive travel agency services - but something more.
I wanted to give you acces also the news & information in the industry that I have access to.
And I wanted to help people to know the seas as I know them - to give advice based on
personal & professional experience, love of travel, passion for diving, and above all . . .
concern for the oceans.
Here on the website, in each destination section you'll find that I've included a few personal
notes that I hope will help to guide you in your decision-making process.
But, I’m also available to personally assist all of you looking for information, advice and a
no-nonsense approach to booking your trips.
