3 full days in the water with massive predators

This trip includes 3 full days of virtually unlimited diving with Great Whites one of the regions best liveaboards.  You can participate in daily photography workshops with a photo pro at no extra cost.

Diving starts promptly at 8 am and you're allowed as many as you would like through each day (until 5pm).  The current record is 31.5 hours of cage time over 3 days !   Up to six Great White sharks have been spotted at one time circling the cage.

What will we see?

July and August features rowdy gangs of male sharks acting just like groups of teenage boys!   Female great whites start showing up in September.   October and November features the enormous 18 foot dominant females affectionately known as "Big Mommas".   Over 228 individual great whites have been identified in the bay that we dive in.

Photo workshops with a pro

Daily photo workshops will be given daily on topics such as wide-angle underwater photography, ambient light shots, snorkeling with large animals, strobe exposure and positions, avoiding backscatter and composition. Help underwater is also given.  You are welcome to attend any of the workshops free of extra charge.

Your group leader & photo pro, Matthew Sullivan, is an award winning photographer fwho has been diving since the age of 10.  Wildlife and nature photography is his passion, with special affection for marine life.  His passion leads him to hope he can help persuade people to stand up for our natural and wild places and to conserve and preserve the amazing animals that inhabit them.

What to expect regarding cage diving

Sea conditions are generally calm with 80-130-foot visibility in very blue water. Water temperatures are around 73F.

For your safety, all diving is done using a hookah system - otherwise known as surface supplied air - and custom designed cages. These cages are designed to provide maximum protection for you AND for the sharks. It is vitally important that the sharks are never affected or injured during their interaction with us.

Mexican park regulations require that you stay within the cages at all times including keeping your arms, hands and cameras inside.  Please do not contaminate the beautiful clear blue waters of Guadalupe with suntan lotion or any other contaminants.

You will be accompanied by a divemaster on all dives and should be ready and dressed in your wetsuit 10 minutes before your scheduled cage time.   A 5 - 7 mm wetsuit is usually adequate to keep you warm.

For your additional safety, each cage is equipped with backup sets of scuba gear for each diver in the exceptionally unlikely event of a problem with the hookah system. The cages are normally entered and exited through an upper hatch but there is also an emergency escape hatch.
