Traditional Style, Elegant & Inviting With Modern Comforts

La Galigo is a traditional two-masted Phinisi-style sailboat designed by an avid scuba diver who hoped to create the ideal liveaboard diving lifestyle and she is, indeed, a gem.

The vessel consists of three main decks plus an additional roof-top sun deck where you can snuggle into bean bags or large, super-soft lounge beds. In front of the bridge, on the upper deck, you’ll find another sun deck and if you’re lucky, you might snag one of the two master cabins or the immense suite with its wonderful balcony … which are found on the upper deck and all of which have panoramic views. The main deck features a warm & inviting dining area and a cozy separate lounge where you’ll find plenty of power points for charging laptops, cameras and video equipment and a large TV and well stocked entertainment selection plus the ample dive deck on the aft deck.

On the lower deck are four deluxe cabins situated mid-ship. These are great for those who tend to suffer from rolling seas.

The ample dive deck, camera table and rinse tanks are found at the stern end of the main deck (unusual for a Phinisi).

As to dining, you’ll enjoy delicious Asian-fusion creations from La Galigo’s chef. You will also enjoy a unique cultural exchange with the local Indonesian people as the crew is happy to share with guests a bit of their language and lifestyle.

Itineraries

The La Galigo itineraries focus on three of the most popular regions of Indonesia – Komodo, Raja Ampat, & Misool. Trips to specific regions are, of course, based on the best time of year to experience the region’s finest diving. Please note that the vessel and crew are fully prepared to venture into other areas of Indonesian diving for charter groups and we can’t recommend this boat highly enough for groups.

The scheduled itineraries include:

Jurassic Komodo – (6 days)  … Ultimate Komodo – (8 days)
Komodo – Perhaps the most diverse of all diving in the Indonesian archipelago.  There are seamounts, walls, canyons and pinnacles as well as the spectacular coral gardens.  There a hot spring at an underwater volcano, great night dives on black sand slopes with creepy, crawly critters.  Numerous sites tout pelagic fish, sharks & mantas but, be assured that at each dive site, you’ll experience something different.

Raja Ampat North – (8 days)  …  Raja Ampat South – (9 days)  …  Ultimate Raja Ampat – (12 days)
Indonesia’s shining underwater jewel, Raja Ampat has something of nearly everything a diver could want.  You’ll dive channels, plateaus, walls & caves … and just plain mud, for the delight of “muck” diving.  You’ll swim amongst great swirls of fish and feast your eyes on sponges & corals in scintillating colors. You’ll meet up close & personal, everything from pygmy seahorses to colossal manta rays.

Misool Explorer – (10 days)
Pure beauty awaits you here. This pristine area is a protected reserve.  You’ll dive amongst splendid corals, experience drift dives & swim throughs, see large schools of pelagic fish and brightly colored reef fish. There are mantas, too … and plenty of fabulous critter action for macro photographers.
