The world‘s finest diving

Pelagian

Simply luxurious. That's the Pelagian. Pelagian's cruising route includes exclusive access to the diving sites in the extended Wakatobi region, in southeast Sulawesi.

A word from Dom : “My first experience with this “lovely lady of the sea” was in the Red Sea in the early 1980’s. I’ve seen her through multiple incarnations since then – one in Aldabra Atoll … another in Thailand … then Komodo, which was my last voyage on her. She’s now based at the sumptuous Wakatobi resort & they’ve refitted her with loving care. We saw her on our last visit to Wakatobi but didn’t sail on her. Still, it allows me to confirm that she retains that special majesty she’s always had. ” Dominick Macan

Stylish & Luxurious Appointments

Pelagian was originally designed to be an elegant, world-ranging motor yacht. Over the years she has been rebuilt, upgraded and improved many times and is an elegant & tastefully decorated treat … and most often an adjunct to a stay at the sumptuous Wakatobi Resort.

You’ll find plenty of deck space. The top deck (bridge deck) features sun loungers at the stern and plus an area in front of the bridge with padded seating & tables which can be covered or uncovered.. The main deck offers a covered tables & chairs at the stern, great for lounging and alfresco meals. Breakfast & lunch are typically served here. This area opens into the elegant interior salon (with TV & DVD player, book and digital music libraries) and dining area where evening meals are usually served. The very spacious master stateroom is also located on the main deck while the remaining cabins are found on the lower deck.

You’ll find no lack of space for dive preparation, your gear and your photography work. Plus, it’s nice to know that Pelagian’s diving program is fully-integrated into Wakatobi’s award-winning marine conservation and community development program.

The fine dining experience of Wakatobi Resort is included on the yacht. You’ll start with a full breakfast and between dives, hot drinks & the chef’s freshly prepared snacks await. The chef creates a daily à la carte menu for lunch and dinner and a selection of fine wines and spirits are available as well as soft drinks and juices.

Travel And Cruise Logistics

Wakatobi Resort & the Pelagian provide a direct flight connection from Bali’s international airport (airport code DPS) by way of a private air charter. The flights are dedicated to serving only guests of Wakatobi Resort and Pelagian Dive Yacht. Check-in time for charter flights from Bali’s international airport is at 6:45am. Once you are checked in, you relax in a VIP airport lounge for a light breakfast before boarding the flight to the resort (around 8:00am), arriving in time for lunch.

On the last day of your Wakatobi or Pelagian vacation the charter flight will return to Bali between 2pm and 3:30pm. We do not recommend that you book tickets to leave Bali on the day of return from Wakatobi until after 5:30pm.

Flights to the resort generally follow a Monday and Friday schedule – depending on the time of the year. Bali is well served by numerous international airlines that provide a wide range of budgeting and scheduling options from points around the world.

Itineraries

Pelagian follows the seasons & the weather of the Wakatobi / Wangi-Wangi region … and adapts to the experience and preferences of her guests. But, the bottom line is that she stays quite close to her home port, exploring the coral-rich waters in this remote and exotic paradise known for its simply exquisite corals and wonderful crazy critters.

The yacht’s itinerary through the Tukangbesi archipelago takes hundreds of miles of diverse underwater landscapes ranging from shallow coral groves to precipitous walls.steep walls are perforated by numerous caves and overhangs that harbor a wealth of wildlife, sea fans 2 meters across and sponges the size of a diver.

Exotic and rare marine life can be found on all dives, but if you love muck diving, sites such as Cheeky Beach and Asphalt Pier are sure to create excitement. You’re likely to find blue-ringed octopus, ornate ghost ghost pipefish, mandarin fish, a zillion types of shrimps and so much more,  If you like sheer cliffs and caves, Tanjung Batutoro offers something for both wide-angle and macro photographers.   When weather permits, Pelagian may also visit a range of offshore seamounts, where there is always the chance for big animal sightings in the adjacent open waters.Bargibant to the Denise and Pontoh.
