Old World charm with modern amenities

Built in a traditional Indonesian Phinisi style but equipped with all the comforts of a new boat, Moana is entirely made from teak and ironwood lending her a warm and comfortable feel. She caters to a maximum of 10 guests and is well equipped for divers to experience the best of the Komodo National Park as well as some unexplored and pristine dive sites.

You will have ample choice of relaxation areas with either sun or shade.  The main deck houses a spacious open area on the foredeck designed for relaxed lounging and outdoor dining.  And, for those of you who might desire to sleep on deck, blankets, hammocks and mattresses are available to sleep under the stars.  The air-conditioned indoor salon on this deck is an escape for those who have maxed out on sun.

The 5 cabins are all located on the lower deck.

Eat healthy, eat hearty

The cuisine on board is healthy and colourful and includes plenty of fresh local organic tropical fruit and fish from the local markets. Meat and oven fresh bread are flown in from Bali every week.  Breakfasts are 'all you can eat' buffet style and lunch and dinner vary between Western, Indonesian, International and Asian specialties. This eclectic mix of Asian and Western food ensures all tastes are catered for.

Your cruise logistics

Moana sails to Komodo from Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores.  You will need to book flights to the airport of Labuan Bajo, Flores (LBJ).  Make sure you arrive by latest 10:00am on the day of your Komodo liveaboard trip starts.

Moana recommends the Garuda flight leaving Bali for Labuan Bajo at 7:30am but there is also a Lion Air flight from Bali at 8:00am.  Arriving the night prior to your trip, with an overnight in a hotel, is always our recommendation.  This gives you time to relax, catch up a bit with the time difference and make sure that your luggage has followed you!  Representatives of the boat will pick you up from the airport or your hotel in Labuan Bajo and transport you to Moana (about a 15-minute drive). After a welcome drink, it's time to fit and check your equipment, then once all guests are on board you will set sail towards the island of Sebayur Kecil. After lunch, it's a check-out dive.

Moana will sail to Labuan Bajo early morning for a planned check-out, after breakfast, around 10 o’clock and, of course, will drop you off at the airport (or your hotel in Labuan Bajo).

Regulations for diving in Komodo mean that you need to have diving insurance and travel insurance is highly recommended.
